BIOGRAPHY
Ben is a keen and passionate exponent of costs law. He is always looking for innovative and viable ways to use his knowledge and experience to achieve the best results for his clients. He likes to really understand the difficulties in disputes and offer pragmatic solutions. He enjoys working with his clients, building relationships and rapport so that he becomes invested in the outcome.
Ben has worked in the costs arena for 13 years. He has worked in-house, assisting in the setting up of a defendant costs department. He has also been employed for a nationwide costs firm, climbing the ladder to Head of Advocacy, a role that he maintained for 7 years. A seasoned advocate, Ben has represented clients from the County Court all the way to the Supreme Court. Ben is described by the Legal 500 as “very user-friendly, responsive, and highly knowledgeable” and “very experienced and commercial in his approach”. Ben was ranked as a ‘Next Generation Partner’ for 2023 and 2024.
Ben attended the Bar Vocational Course in 2008-2009. He is also a non-executive director of ACLT. Having been mentored by established costs lawyers when he first started in costs (thank you OJ and MJT), Ben understands the importance of giving back. He currently mentors law graduates trying to find their feet in the legal industry.
There is nothing that Ben enjoys more than a long dog walk in the Welsh countryside. Ben also enjoys travel, experiencing other cultures and exploring new places.
